Maya is located in the Oromia Region along the route linking Finfinne (Addis Ababa), Dire Dawa, Harar, Zeila (Djibouti) and Berbera (Somalia). Maya comprises three sub-cities, namely Adelle, Haramaya and Awaday. Each sub-city comprises four administrative units (kebeles).
