Gondar is situated in the northwest region of the country (Amhara), along the road that connects the cash crop areas of Humera, Tigray, Wollo, Gojjam and Sudan. Gondar consists of six sub-cities: Fasil, Arad, Jantekel, Zobel, Maraki, and Azezo Teda, along with 25 urban and 11 rural kebele administrations. Each sub-city is overseen by a chief executive officer who oversees the provision of all services, while the kebele administrations are tasked with delivering essential services.
