Governance
Adama City Administration is an autonomous first grade urban local government established following Proclamation No. 65/2003, for the establishment of local urban administrations issued by the Regional State of Oromia. It is located in Oromia National Regional State, East Shewa Zone at a distance of 100 km from Addis Ababa.

Political structure for voting
- Adama City has two administrations, i.e., State and Municipal functions.
- Adama City State is headed by the Mayor and Adama Municipality is headed by the City Manager.
- The Mayor is directly accountable to the City Council whereas, the core offices, departments, services and municipality management are under the mayor’s immediate and direct supervision. The city is further sub divided in to fourteen Gandas (neighbourhood administrative units) that have duties and responsibilities of managing their own community affairs.
Adama City Administration has all branches of the government structures that include legislative, judiciary & executive bodies to ensure the prevalence of check & balance of power in city administration system.
