Chitungwiza is the third-populous urban centre in Zimbabwe and it is located 25 km south-east of the capital city Harare in the Harare Metropolitan Province of Zimbabwe. Chitungwiza, which has a lot of investment opportunities, aspires to be a Smart Heritage City by 2030, in line with the country’s vision of becoming an upper-middle-income economy. It is very popular for nurturing artistes and sports persons.

First elected as ward councillor by the general public then elected as mayor by the councillors of the Municipality.

- The committees which are made up of councillors discuss issues brought to their attention and make resolutions which are then adopted, rejected or sent back by a full council.
- The administrative side is led by the town clerk, the municipality’s accounting officer. Below him are five heads of departments: Finance, Central Administration Services, Engineering Services, Housing and Community Services, and Health and Environmental Services. Each department is divided into different sections.
