Chongwe is located in the Lusaka Province of the Republic of Zambia. It was declared a District in 1993 and was later upgraded to Municipal Status in February 2017. Chongwe District comprises one constituency and nineteen wards.

- Finance Valuation and Commercial Undertaking Committee
- Human Resources, Administration & Legal Services Committee
- The District Commissioner performs central government functions at district level.
